6 steps learning techniques to play big
I started at the bottom of my class.
A small fish amongst the brightest in the country. Stress.
But it was also where I honed my learning technique.
1️⃣ As I read my textbooks, I scribbled key words to form mini anchors in my mind for the concepts it represent
2️⃣When I finish a chapter, I mind mapped the whole chapter. I kept working on the mind map until I can put all the concepts into one page. I had circa 12 very colourful pages per subject to do my revision.
3️⃣ I applied what I’ve learnt - did a LOT of practice exam questions. No shame in looking at answer sheet. From the answers I worked backward on the steps.
4️⃣ I observed and learned from others. It is a lot more fun. I reflected and learnt what to do and what not to do that works for me.
5️⃣I taught others. The more I can teach others, the better I got at understanding what I’ve learnt and the more I sharpened my techniques.
6️⃣Whatever the results were I kept my focus on the main exam, my own incremental growth, my own race.
I did the same in uni, I did the same for my professional exam and I did the same at work.
A small fish can play big.
What’s your learning techniques?
