People who look like me

I look Chinese.

I look Asian.

And to some, people who look like me must surely eat bats, someone who is diseased and dirty. To some, people who look like me is fair game to be spat, kicked and hurled abused at. It is worse when veiled in casualness, cuts just enough to hurt and to shame.

I will not get angry but I will also not be cowered by fear. People who look like me have families to look after and communities to give back to.

Have our own struggles and dream our own dreams. Have days where we feel the weight of the world on our shoulders and days we feel our spirits lifted high above the clouds.

People who look like me, our blood run equally red and our heart crave to feel safe just like everyone else.

Our fear divides us but our humanity unites us.
