Happy wrinkles

There is a Chinese proverb, “A person without a smiling face must not open a shop.”

When I saw this, I could not help but smile. Growing up I’ve always wanted wrinkles at the corner of my eyes like my mum’s. To me those wrinkles are happy wrinkles.

Never expected that smiling would be a strategy that I would use to transform an audit process.

I cold called hundreds of financial institutions to get their perspective that would help to re engineer a process.

And I realised that whenever I start a call with a smile on my face and even though the other side cannot see my smile, I tend to get a positive response and willingness to work together.

I learned that the warmth of a smile carry through our voice. It’s contagious. It makes the other side feel happy. It helps establish rapport and openness and in building relationship.

From the hundreds of cold call exercise with plenty of warm smiles, was the transformation of legacy audit process.

Smile and the world just seems a little brighter. 😁

P.S. status on the happy wrinkles...its just about visible 😆
