Inclusive leadership
Looking around those attending meetings, she was often the only one who looked different. Conversation starters are topics that she has little knowledge of to participate. Someone always seem to dominate and others parroting the same.
If she managed to voice her idea, it soon became the idea of another. If she managed to give her thoughts, it was soon drowned out by others.
Then a leader walked in to chair a meeting. He simply asked about her and spoke of topics that made her feel at ease. Everyone was invited to share their thoughts even hers. Differences of opinions were encouraged and reflection of the thoughts were valued. Appropriation of ideas were credited back to the original author.
The leader understood that the value of inclusion starts with action to include.
