Job search strategically
She has just been made redundant. Speaking to her mentor, this is what he said, “Be strategic with your job search effort.”
1. Identify the industries that are benefitting from the pandemic. More likely to be hiring.
2. From these areas, narrow down to the one most similar to the industries you were in. More likely you will be considered to have industry relevance.
3. Search job of that industry in LinkedIn job.
4. Use the Date posted filter function in the “Job” section of LinkedIn to prioritise 2-3 jobs to apply. Job posted in the last 24 hours - less likely to have already been filled.
5. Make a cup of tea/coffee to get into the zone to focus on customising your Cover Letter and Resume to the job description.
6. Check grammar and spelling before sending.
Extra tip: Look at all the other jobs that company is advertising. It may give you a sense of the company’s direction. One company had a Buyer, Digital Marketer, Sales Coordinator and Account Manager role advertise. This likely mean it is a growing with more opportunities to come. So turn on alert when the company advertise. Be first to know.
