Foot wedged at the career door

Her world stood still, cradling a baby in one arm and a toddler straddling her other hip. She kept one foot wedged in the door to keep her career alive.

Suppressing her ambition and intellect, she kept her hands down from opportunities for she was just barely able to keep her ahead above water. Anything more and she would have drowned.

Her peers kept moving ahead and she could only looked at them forlornly as she felt herself moving further behind.

Small and at times menial tasks, projects or jobs that let her look after her family were the only ones she said yes to.

Only now did she realized that they were pieces of experiences that added up to give her tremendous amount of insights, empathy and maturity that lead her to the leadership position that she held today.

My dear, today is not the day to give up. Everything that you do matters and it adds up. You will get to the destination you were meant to be.
